Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Library Associate to join our small library team. We are seeking a person with kind and patient customer service skills who can assist our patrons with a variety of tasks and can work well independently. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks is important in this role to foster an engaging environment where community members can access information and resources effortlessly. Responsibilities
- Assist patrons with locating materials, using databases, and navigating the integrated library systems; including managing the inter-library loan system
- Perform data entry and cataloging of new materials, maintaining accurate records within library databases and preparing materials for the shelf
- Support customer service efforts by answering questions, providing research assistance, and offering guidance on library services
- Conduct filing and organization of physical and digital materials to keep collections orderly and accessible
- Manage data collection activities related to library usage, circulation statistics, and inventory management
- Troubleshoot software issues related to library management systems and assist with basic computer or software troubleshooting as needed
- Support library programs by preparing materials, setting up spaces, and promoting events within the community
- Lead and assist various special projects around the library as they come up
Qualifications
- Strong computer skills with experience using databases, cataloging software, and integrated library systems
- Excellent communication skills-verbal and written
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
- Experience with data entry, filing, research, and data collection activities in a library or similar environment preferred
- Knowledge of library services, including circulation procedures and customer service best practices
- Typing proficiency to support efficient data entry and digital record keeping
- Detail-oriented and works well independently
- An interest or background in reading, books, literature, literacy or research
- Two years of college + two years of library experience preferred or some combination
