The Community Services Department provides exceptional cultural, educational, recreational, and social services to enhance and maintain a high quality of life and attractive physical environment in the Beverly Hills community. The Library's mission is to provide resources, services, and a place to read, connect, relax, and learn. The Library supports literacy, lifelong learning, civic engagement, and cultural awareness. To achieve these goals, the Library provides: access to library materials and guidance in finding quality, trusted information, events for all ages to support life-long learning and early literacy, and school year and summer programs to promote a lifetime love of reading. The Library helps adults and children by offering access to hundreds of thousands of books, audiobooks, e-books and other materials. Thousands of patrons are reached through outreach activities to schools, homebound patrons, Roxbury Book Nook, and community events.

What We're Looking For
The City of Beverly Hills is seeking a Library Clerk II to join the Community Services Department’s Library Division. This role plays a key part in delivering exceptional customer service to library patrons by providing information on library programs and services in a professional, helpful manner. The Library Clerk II will be responsible for providing assistance using library equipment such as copiers, scanners and printers. The incumbent will also assist the patrons with using the public computers and fulfill requests for periodical materials that are stored in the periodical area. The ideal candidate will possess previous experience in a public library setting and demonstrate a strong ability to manage customer interactions. Strong communication and technical skills and the ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations are essential. In addition to providing direct customer service, the Library Clerk II will troubleshoot sound systems, projectors, and other technical equipment. Staff receive training but should be comfortable learning new technologies, performing basic setup, submitting IT service tickets, and escalating complex issues as needed.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically capable, and effective at assisting patrons with varying levels of experience. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a flexible, cross-trained environment are essential. Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of audio-visual equipment such as projectors and connected sounds systems
  • Knowledge of online databases and digital resources
  • Previous customer service experience in a public library setting
  • Experience working with integrated library systems.

All work is performed on-site; this position is not eligible for telework. The schedule is a minimum of 25 hours per week and may be assigned at any time within the library’s operating hours. Additionally, depending on program needs, incumbents will be assigned to work evening shifts during the week and weekends.

Library hours are Monday–Thursday, 9:30 a.m.–9:30 p.m.; Friday–Saturday, 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 12:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $30.00 - $37.16 per hour
