Library Coordinator - Committtee Liaison (hybrid schedule)

The Daughters of the American Revolution’s (DAR) Library is seeking a highly organized library professional to join our team.

Our Committee Liaison will provide support for nationwide committees that work with the library on digital projects. This will also include adding digital materials and tracking statistics.

The main focus of this position will be working with the DAR’s Genealogical Records Committee and its volunteers. This work will involve coordinating the committee’s functions to create, index, and add digital material into the library’s records. You will be reviewing all submitted work for completeness and ensuring prescribed standards are met.

Our Genealogical Records Committee Reports Index (GRC Index) comprises one of the most unique parts of the DAR Library’s holdings. DAR members have gathered and submitted unpublished compilations of Bible, cemetery, family, vital, county, town, church, and military records since the late 1910s.

As the liaison for the library, this role will also serve as an educator for volunteers who are compiling volumes of state and local records and genealogical research materials.

This position will be ideal for someone with experience in conducting genealogical research and has familiarity with genealogical source materials.

This is a hybrid work schedule, but future on-site Saturday hours may be required.

Position Responsibilities:

• Work with national committees and other volunteer groups to ingest, catalog, and assign indexing duties for electronic books and other materials into the Library’s digital collections.
• Track materials, indexing work, and other data.
• Perform strenuous quality control checks on indexing work to ensure standards are being maintained.
• Maintain professional interactions with stakeholders, which will include volunteer coordination, and participating in workflow development and project meetings.
• Review and update our digital collections, including data clean up, identifying missing data, and rescanning as needed.

Job Requirements:

• 2-3 years of relevant experience with digital collections and databases, preferably in a library setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• MLS degree in Library Science/Information Science from an ALA accredited institution is preferred.
• Relevant technical skills, including facility with metadata standards (e.g. MARC, EAD, Dublin Core).
• Proficiency with databases, metadata, taxonomies, digital information management.
• Comfortable using various Microsoft office products and able to adapt to specialized programs and databases.
• Cataloging experience preferred but not required.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly with a wide range of individuals at various levels of seniority.
• A background and/or experience in American genealogical research and sources is preferred.

The DAR offers:

• Hiring annual salary range from $58,000 to $64,000, with the final determination based upon the candidate's overall experience

Pay: $58,000.00 - $64,000.00 per year
