Library Coordinator (TK-Grade 3)
Part-Time, Non-Exempt (10 months), Category 4
Salary Range: $25.00-$32.00
REPORTS TO:
TK-8 Principal
SUPERVISES:
Library & Collaboration Center
The TK-3 Library Coordinator maintains the overall working environment of the Library. This position assists students, faculty, staff, and administration; attends to various duties and projects to build and maintain the creative and collaborative space; performs any other duties as required by the TK-8 Principal; and collaborates specifically also with the MS and HS Library Staff.
Responsibilities

Teach students how to access books.

Supervise students in the Library during breaks and lunch.

Circulate books, textbooks, and periodicals.

Maintain a schedule for classes to use the Library during the day.

Work with parent volunteers and guide them on assigned tasks.

Collaborate regularly with teachers and administrators.

Communicate through email, Teams or phone calls.

Advise students seeking recommendations for books.

Maintain current and accurate circulation records with Alexandria.

Maintain organization of all library holdings including subscriptions.

Collect and record fines as needed.

Repair books as needed.

Conduct weekly lessons for TK-3rd Grades.

Build and maintain resources and services that include print-based material.

Oversee the circulation/reference services.

Budget: exercise effective fiscal budgetary and facilities management of the library, under direct supervision of the TK-8 Principal.

Collection Development: responsible for developing the library collection including purchasing of all books, periodicals, other resources.
Manage Collaborative Culture And Environment

Create a positive, warm and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and visitors.

Cultivate the sharing and enjoyment of the space with respect to others.

Monitor appropriate group work and guide students to use non-distractive voices and behavior.

Monitor behavior and work with TK-3 Director and TK-8 Principal to create a strong learning atmosphere.

Participate in Back to School Night and all other school promotion functions as designated by the TK-8 Principal.

Answer questions and offer information to all patrons and OCS guests.

Straighten and maintain safe, unobstructed workspaces and arrange for any special cleaning.

Develop and implement displays to promote use and exposure of various literature genres and resources.

Creatively engage students through a monthly theme, contest, or educational topics.

Knowledge of basic computer skills (Google, Office 365, Teams, various educational technology components) and library usage (enough to help students troubleshoot)

Experience in working with children, either in teaching (preferred) or other

BA/BS degree required preferably in English or Library Science
