Library Delivery Driver

Starting Salary: $15.83/hour
Hours: 25 hours/week
Schedule:
Monday – Friday 8am –1 pm (5 hrs)
Supervisor: Director

Position Summary

The Library Delivery Driver is responsible for transporting books, media, and other materials between library branches, partner institutions, and designated community locations. This role ensures timely, accurate, and safe delivery while supporting efficient library operations and excellent service to patrons and staff.

Key Responsibilities

· Safely operate a delivery vehicle to transport library materials along assigned routes

· Load, unload, and organize materials to ensure accurate distribution

· Maintain delivery schedules and communicate delays or issues promptly

· Handle materials with care to prevent damage or loss

· Perform basic vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs

· Provide courteous and professional interactions with library staff and partners

· Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and organizational policies

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

· Ability to lift and carry up to 40–50 lbs regularly

· Strong organizational and time-management skills

· Attention to detail and accuracy in handling materials

· Basic communication skills and a customer-service mindset

· Familiarity with the local area and routes preferred

Working Conditions

· Frequent driving and extended periods of sitting

· Regular lifting, bending, and carrying materials

· Exposure to varying weather conditions during deliveries
