The City of Hibbing is seeking a Summer Seasonal Library Intern to support library programs, events, and daily operations while providing excellent customer service to our community. This position assists at the public service desk by checking materials in and out, answering and directing phone calls, providing information to library users, helping with equipment such as photocopiers, retrieving materials from special collections, and processing, cleaning, and repairing library materials. The intern will also assist with reading programs, special projects, shelving tasks, collection maintenance, and research assignments as directed. Candidates must have a high school diploma, strong computer skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with the public and staff; previous library, customer service, or experience working with children is preferred. This is a great opportunity for someone organized, dependable, and community-focused who enjoys working in a welcoming library environment.
High School Diploma required. Previous library experience, customer service, and experience working with children preferred. Computer literacy required. Ability to accurately enter data using standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, databases). Electronic computing and use of communication devices including, but not limited to a cash register, and standard office and library equipment. Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with the public, library staff, and the Library Manager. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and using written communication.
This is a seasonal position with employment anticipated to begin in May or June and continue through August or September, depending on operational needs and the successful candidate’s availability. The position is expected to work approximately 37–40 hours per week, with hours and schedule varying based on programming, weather conditions, and departmental needs.
This is a temporary position, not entitled to any fringe benefits. This position is eligible to accrue ESST in accordance with MN Statute 181.9446 and City Policy.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
