The Germantown Community Library in Germantown, WI is seeking a part-time summer Library Intern reporting to the Youth Services Manager primarily assisting with programming events outside of the library. The position will be scheduled an average of 8 hours per week between June 1 and August 23, 2026. The Library Intern is responsible for performing tasks as assigned by one of the assigned library managers. This may include assisting with program planning and implementation, customer service, or collection development. The starting wage is $11.39 per hour. The position will remain open until filled. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following are fundamental to the position. These are not to be considered as exclusive or all-inclusive; other related duties may be required and assigned as needed.Plan and implement educational and recreational programs for all ages that encourage lifelong learning and general library use with a focus on all ages. Programs may be located inside or outside of the library.Support promotion of library services and programs, including assisting with social media content or department highlights as assigned.Partner with other agencies and special interest groups to implement and promote library programs and outreach services to the community.Select, manage, and withdraw materials within assigned collections with a focus on material for all ages.Provide a positive reflection of the library when participating in community programming and events on behalf of the library.Provide courteous, knowledgeable, and responsive customer service to patrons of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.Create and maintain a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for all patrons accessing library services and materials.Assist patrons with basic library services and general use of library resources on library computers and personally owned mobile devices, both in-person and on the phone.Accurately performs cashiering duties, including handling cash and credit card transactions.Use library systems, computers, and office equipment to complete daily tasks and support library operations. Serve as backup support for other service desk coverage, programming, and events as needed.Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
