Library Manager

We are seeking an experienced Management Consultant to lead a comprehensive assessment of a large public library system’s Technical Services Division. This role will support organizational improvement, operational efficiency, and budget strategy to enhance service delivery in a rapidly evolving digital and physical content environment.

🔍 Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a full organizational review, including staffing, reporting structure, governance, and operational workflows.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of personnel utilization, span of control, and departmental alignment.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities, cost savings, and modernization strategies.
  • Assess the library’s collection budget and benchmark against industry standards.
  • Analyze physical vs. digital collection allocation and provide recommendations aligned with changing patron needs.
  • Compare current operations to peer library systems and best practices.
  • Develop a comprehensive roadmap with findings, recommendations, and implementation strategy.
  • Provide guidance on strategic alignment with modern library services and community expectations.

📚 Ideal Background

  • Experience with public sector consulting, preferably with libraries, government, education, or cultural institutions.
  • Strong background in organizational assessment, operational restructuring, and governance design.
  • Expertise in budget analysis, resource planning, and service modernization.
  • Familiarity with collection strategy, public library operations, and emerging digital access models is a plus.
