General Description
The Library Manager oversees all aspects of library operations and services. This role includes supervising staff, managing budgets and reports, developing partnerships, and implementing policies set by the Board. The Library Manager also advises the Board, plans programs and services, and ensures the library continues to meet the evolving needs of the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage library staff, staff scheduling, performance evaluations and daily library operations.
- Prepare and submit annual reports to the Town & NYS.
- Develop and manage the library budget within approved limits and manage all purchasing.
- Oversee and maintain library website, software, technology and equipment.
- Direct all library services, including circulation, reference, cataloging, collection development, and programming for adults and children
- Plan, implement, and evaluate community programs and special events
- Research funding opportunities and prepare grant applications and reports
- Coordinate with regional library systems and partner organizations
- Oversee marketing and promotion of library services and programs
- Represent the library at meetings, events, and professional engagements
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of library operations, administration, and best practices
- Proficiency with computers, business software, and library systems
- Experience with library technologies, websites, and social media platforms
- Strong leadership, supervisory and communication skills
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs and services
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and required training
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following:
- Completion of at least 60 college credit hours and one year of paid experience maintaining accounts and records; OR
- High school diploma (or equivalent) and two years of paid experience maintaining accounts and records; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
