Library Media Specialist, 0.80 FTE

The Craftsbury Town School District is seeking a dynamic Library Media Specialist starting with the 2026-2027 school year. The Library Media Specialist is responsible for working collaboratively with school administration and staff to develop a library program that supports the curriculum; provides instructional leadership for the teaching of literacy skills; develops and maintains a media center collection rich in both print and nonprint materials; and manages the media center as a flexible, multitask learning environment. Tasks include, but are not limited to, managing the day-to-day operations of the school library, using standard library procedures to research, develop, acquire, organize, maintain and make available a balanced and diverse collection of current information, working collaboratively with all staff, providing expertise in the selection, acquisition, evaluation, and organization of information resources and technologies in all formats, ensuring equitable and ethical use of information, teaching students to follow an inquiry process as they ask questions, evaluate and collect information from multiple sources to construct understanding by thinking critically and ensuring flexible and equitable access to resources that support the students academic and personal learning needs.This position is a part of the Teachers' Collective Bargaining Unit, with a full-time equivalency (FTE) of 80%. All benefits offered to full-time teachers are available at a prorated amount.

The salary range listed has been adjusted to the 0.80 FTE of the position. Craftsbury Schools (aka Craftsbury Academy) has been in existence since 1832. The school has seen many changes and renovations over our almost 200-year history, but what has remained the same is our sense of community within the school and town. Craftsbury Schools serves around 200 students in grades PreK-12 on two campuses.

Our PreK-2nd graders meet on our campus located at 83 North Craftsbury Road, Craftsbury, VT, and our 3rd-12th graders meet on our campus - sometimes referred to as the Academy campus or Craftsbury Common campus - located about a mile up the road, at 1422 North Craftsbury Road, Craftsbury Common, VT.
