Primary Purpose:
Supervise and manage the school library/media, makerspace, and STEM center and provide reading support to develop students’ academic skills using District approved curriculum. Serve as teacher, materials expert, and curriculum advisor to ensure that library/media, makerspace, and STEM center is involved in instructional programs of the school.
Education/Certification:
- Master's degree from an accredited college/university preferred at time of hire and required within specified time frame
Valid Texas teacher, librarian or Technology Applications certificate or endorsement preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties :
- Serves as an information resource for users of library/media center materials
- Provides professional learning opportunities for teachers on the availability and use of district technology resources
- Promotes, understands, communicates and prepares students and staff to be good digital citizens
- Supports the campus reading program and literacy initiatives
- Assists students, staff, parents, and community in identifying, locating, and interpreting information obtained from various sources
- Provides students and staff with technical support
- Assists with student device deployment
- Assists with management and inventory of instructional material
- Promotes, models, and provides leadership in the selection, coordination, evaluation, and use of technology in curriculum and instruction
- Remains current regarding established laws, policies, rules, and regulations
- Withdraws obsolete materials and equipment in accordance with district policies and procedures
- Provides professional learning that integrates media, technology, and activities to enhance the curriculum
- Provides leadership in the utilization of technology
- Attends professional learning sessions and actively participates on campus/district level committees
- Manages and promotes makerspace
- Informs and trains teachers of new resources and equipment and facilitates their use.
- Prepares budget requests, administers library budgets, and maintains appropriate records.
Demonstrates awareness of school/community needs and initiates activities to meet those identified needs through communication, involvement, and personal conduct.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions.
Experience:
Three years experience as a classroom teacher
Reading Academy completion preferred (elementary only)
