Library Services Specialist

The Manistee County Library is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong technological, customer service, and organizational skills to be our new full-time, permanent, Library Services Specialist. The Manistee County Library is a county-wide system with a main library and five branches. The ideal candidate is optimistic about the future of libraries and is comfortable working with technology.

The Library Services Specialist performs a wide variety of technical and clerical duties designed to adequately meet the needs of Manistee County Library’s patrons. The ideal candidate will have experience using databases, doing internet-based research, using the library's website, Google Workspace, and is comfortable learning new software and technology.

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, this person will perform circulation duties such as checking in and out library materials, issuing library cards, as well as handling cash register transactions and assisting patrons. This position is also responsible for organizing and maintaining the stacks, as well as monitoring the public areas of the library during assigned shifts.

This position requires some evening and weekend hours.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in excellent customer service. The library may consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience, at the discretion of the Executive Director.

Starting Salary: $13.85 per hour.
