RCC seeks applicants for our Library Specialist position at our Glenns campus. This is a 24-hour per week, part-time staff position without benefits. The anticipated hourly pay rate will be commensurate experience but no less than $18.00 per hour. The incumbent will need to work evenings and weekends as needed. Reporting to the Coordinator of Learning Resources, this position will provide circulation and basic reference services to students, faculty and community patrons. High-quality customer service is essential for success in this position.
Duties include:
- Interacting with patrons professionally, effectively, and courteously
- Using the Integrated Library System (Alma) to perform circulation duties
- Shelving and maintaining reference, reserve, circulating, and periodical materials in an accurate manner
- Informing patrons of library policies
- Instructing patrons in the use of the library catalog (Primo)
- Managing patron accounts (debts, etc.)
- Informing patrons about and assisting with Intercampus and Interlibrary Loan services
- Assisting with course and patron reserve materials
- Efficiently logging in newspapers and magazines
- Making RCC ID badges
- Assisting students with applicable software applications
- Opening and closing the library when necessary
- Working a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- May include occasional travel to other campuses.
Minimum Qualifications:- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
- Experience using a variety of computer applications and software
- Ability and eagerness to learn new technologies
- Ability to perform duties accurately with attention to detail, and in a timely manner
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to navigate an alpha-numeric shelving system
- Possession of the preceding knowledge, skills, and abilities may substitute for training and experience.
