Library Tech Assistant

Summary

Performs a variety of administrative and staff support duties for the Library, which require a range of skills and a routine knowledge of organizational policies and procedures.

Hours:
Monday 10:00-6:00
Tuesday 10:00-6:00
Wednesday 7:30-3:30
Thursday 9:00-5:00
Friday 8:00-3:30 (Virtual)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains records and district statistics for the library. Assists librarian in ordering and purchase processes.
  • Assists students, faculty, and staff in library-related tasks
  • Works with processing and distribution of physical and digital materials.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly environment.
  • Assists with shelving and organization of physical materials.
6. Assists in providing general circulation and reference duties including the use of the catalog, databases, and internet.
7. Creates displays for digital signage.
8. Performs duties associated with interlibrary loans and transits.
9. Performs other technical tasks and miscellaneous duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements

Associate degree preferred
or
High school diploma or GED; at least 2-3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Aptitude in customer service.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Intermediate or higher level in use of Microsoft Excel and Office suite. Records maintenance skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Database management skills.
  • Knowledge of human resources concepts, practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
