Licensed Associate Counselor(LAC)

Overview
Join our dynamic mental health team as a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), where you will play a vital role in providing compassionate, evidence-based counseling services to diverse populations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in an outpatient clinic, and through telehealth platforms, delivering high-quality mental health care. As an LAC, you will collaborate with our onsite board approved supervisor, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners and psychiatrist, to develop personalized treatment plans, conduct comprehensive assessments, and support clients on their journey toward emotional well-being and resilience. Your expertise will help foster positive change and empower individuals facing a wide range of mental health challenges.

Duties

• Conduct intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to accurately identify client needs.
• Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions using therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy.
• Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety during emergencies.
• Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to motivate clients toward positive behavioral change and treatment adherence.
• Manage medical documentation with meticulous attention to HIPAA compliance, maintaining detailed records of patient care, medical terminology, and progress notes.
• Collaborate with medical professionals on medication management involving psychopharmacology when appropriate.
• Support clients with special needs including children, individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), geriatrics, and those experiencing PTSD or grief.
• Engage in case management activities such as patient assessment, data collection for clinical research, and coordination of services across outpatient or inpatient settings.
• Facilitate telehealth sessions to expand access to mental health services while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Participate in ongoing professional development through research activities and staying current with ICD coding updates like CPT coding for billing purposes.
• Ensure supervision reporting forms are submitted to board every 6 months-LAC responsibility
• Adhere to LAC Statement of Intent on file with the board-LAC responsibility

Experience

• A valid state license as an Associate Counselor (LAC) or equivalent certification required; must be eligible for full licensure within the state.
• Proven experience in clinical counseling across various settings such as outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities, or hospital environments.
• Demonstrated proficiency in psychotherapy techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, and social work practices.
• Experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and elderly populations.
• Familiarity with crisis intervention methods and crisis management protocols in mental health contexts.
• Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems for diagnosis documentation; experience with CPT coding is a plus.
• Telehealth experience is highly desirable to provide flexible care options for clients remotely.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations involving addiction counseling, grief counseling, chronic pain management, or gender issues counseling with professionalism and compassion.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology related to behavioral health conditions; experience working within HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy is essential. Pay: $30,000.00 - $56,200.00 per year
