Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are strictly followed
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans, while maintaining patient safety and comfort
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; ensure accurate documentation of medical history and treatment details
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort throughout procedures; communicate effectively with patients to ease anxiety and provide education on oral health
- Support front desk duties as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to infection control standards and OSHA guidelines
Qualifications
- Valid license as a Dental Assistant with current certification to perform chairside assisting in accordance with state regulations
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control procedures
- Proficiency in using dental software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for scheduling and medical records management
- Ability to operate X-ray machines safely and accurately; familiarity with medical coding for billing purposes is a plus
- Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry practices and experience assisting with pediatric patients preferred
- Knowledge of aseptic technique, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures required for effective chairside assistance
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members including dental hygienists, specialists like prosthodontists or endodontists, and administrative staff
