Overview
Seeking a part time Licensed Dental Hygienist to join our team for a maternity leave coverage. This position has the potential to become a permanent position. Scheduled hours and compensation are flexible for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to improve patient oral health.
- Assess patient medical history and vital signs to ensure safe and effective treatment plans.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies tailored to their needs.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort.
- Review and update medical records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software platforms like Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation and scheduling.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control, aseptic technique, and medical coding.
- Experience working in pediatric dentistry or with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
- Skilled in chairside assisting, including taking vital signs, medical assessments, and providing patient care.
- Ability to review documentation thoroughly, ensuring accuracy in medical records and treatment notes.
- Familiarity with general dentistry procedures, medical terminology, and infection prevention protocols.
