Coastal Energy is a Florida-based licensed roofing and electrical contractor specializing in residential and commercial solar energy systems, battery storage, roofing installations, and energy efficiency upgrades.
As the company continues to grow, we are seeking a Florida Licensed General Contractor (CGC) to join our leadership team. This individual will serve as the qualifying agent for the company’s contractor license while managing field operations, construction quality, and project execution across both residential and commercial projects.
This is a leadership position responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest construction standards While providing a customer an excellent experience.
Position Summary
The General Contractor will oversee construction field operations, quality control, project scheduling, subcontractor management, and code compliance across residential and commercial construction projects, including solar energy systems, roofing installations, structural work, and energy infrastructure.
The role combines license qualification, construction management, and operational leadership to ensure projects are executed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with Florida Building Code, commercial construction standards, and company quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
License Qualification & Compliance
- Serve as the qualifying Florida Certified General Contractor (CGC) for Coastal Energy.
- Maintain license in good standing and ensure company compliance with state licensing requirements and Florida Building Code.
- Provide oversight for construction activities performed under the company license across residential and commercial projects.
- Assist with resolving permitting issues and coordinating with local building departments.
Field Operations Leadership
- Oversee daily construction operations across multiple residential and commercial projects.
- Manage field supervisors, subcontractors, and installation crews.
- Coordinate project schedules and ensure timely completion of work.
- Conduct routine jobsite visits to monitor progress and maintain project standards.
Quality Control & Construction Standards
- Establish and enforce company-wide quality control standards.
- Perform jobsite inspections during key phases of construction.
- Develop and maintain quality control checklists for installation teams.
- Ensure installations meet engineering specifications, manufacturer requirements, and building codes.
- Review completed work prior to project closeout to ensure client satisfaction.
Project Planning & Budget Oversight
- Assist with construction planning, estimating, and scheduling.
- Monitor project budgets and manage change orders.
- Support cost control initiatives to maintain project profitability.
- Coordinate procurement and delivery of materials and equipment.
Subcontractor & Trade Coordination
- Manage subcontractor relationships and performance.
- Coordinate work across multiple trades including:
- Roofing
- Electrical
- Solar installation
- Structural and framing work
- Commercial and residential construction trades
- Ensure trades are properly scheduled and aligned with project timelines.
Permitting & Inspections
- Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions.
- Ensure all work complies with Florida Building Code and applicable commercial and residential permitting requirements.
- Assist with resolving inspection issues when necessary.
Construction Documentation
- Maintain project documentation including:
- inspection reports
- jobsite progress logs
- quality control records
- project completion documentation
- Utilize construction management tools and software for documentation and communication.
Safety Leadership
- Enforce OSHA safety standards and company safety policies.
- Conduct routine safety inspections.
- Promote a culture of safety across all construction operations.
Team Leadership & Operational Improvement
- Mentor and train field supervisors and installation teams.
- Assist in hiring and evaluating field personnel.
- Help develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for installation teams.
- Improve operational efficiency through better processes, training, and field communication.
Qualifications Required
- Active Florida Certified General Contractor License (CGC).
- Minimum 5+ years experience managing construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Florida Building Code
- residential and commercial construction practices
- roofing and structural construction
- Experience supervising subcontractors and construction teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects
Preferred
- Experience with commercial construction or energy infrastructure projects.
- Experience with solar installations, battery storage systems, or electrical infrastructure.
- Experience working with Florida municipal permitting departments.
- Familiarity with construction software such as Bluebeam, Procore, Buildertrend, or similar tools.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.

Duties
- Plan, organize, and supervise construction projects, ensuring timely and within-budget completion
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, clients, and subcontractors to align project goals and specifications
- Oversee daily site activities, including scheduling labor, materials, and equipment to maximize productivity
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to safety protocols, building codes, and quality standards
- Review blueprints, schematics, and construction plans; interpret technical drawings for accurate execution
- Manage procurement of materials such as concrete forms, roofing supplies, plumbing fixtures, electrical components, and finish carpentry items
- Utilize construction management software like Bluebeam for project documentation and communication
- Perform construction estimating to develop accurate budgets and timelines
- Supervise the use of power tools and heavy equipment operation on-site
- Conduct construction inspection tasks including framing, masonry, drywall installation, stucco application, tile laying, flooring installation, and painting
- Oversee specialized trades such as glass installation, cabinet fitting, welding repairs, restoration work, and hardscape development
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards; facilitate training on proper use of hand tools and power tools
- Maintain detailed records of project progress through reports and logs; address issues promptly to keep projects on track
Skills
- Extensive experience in construction management with a strong understanding of project planning and execution
- Proficiency in construction estimating techniques to accurately forecast costs and resources needed
- Skilled in blueprint reading and schematics interpretation for diverse trades including carpentry, masonry, roofing, electrical systems, plumbing, and concrete finishing
- Knowledge of construction inspection procedures across multiple disciplines such as plastering, fabrication, restoration or tile laying
- Hands-on experience with Bluebeam or similar digital tools for project documentation and collaboration
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely; familiarity with site safety protocols is essential
- Strong background in carpentry including frame carpentry, trim carpentry, door hanging and cabinet installation
- Experience with concrete forming techniques as well as masonry work involving brick or stonework
- Capable of performing or supervising tasks involving drywall finishing, plastering or stucco application
- Skilled in welding repairs or fabrication work when necessary on-site projects
- Knowledge of roofing systems including installation or repair processes
- Ability to interpret technical drawings such as schematics for electrical or plumbing systems
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate teams effectively across multiple trades
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality control in all phases of construction
