Licensed Optician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Optician to join our team. The Optician will assist patients in selecting and fitting eyewear, ensure accurate lens and frame measurements, and provide exceptional service throughout the patient journey. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, technical knowledge of optical products, and a passion for eye care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist customers with frame selection based on their prescription, lifestyle, and aesthetic preferences
• Take accurate optical measurements (PD, segment height, etc.)
• Interpret prescriptions written by Optometrists or Ophthalmologists
• Recommend lens options, coatings, and upgrades
• Adjust and fit eyewear for proper comfort and vision
• Process eyeglass and contact lens orders using appropriate lab systems
• Maintain accurate customer records and billing information
• Perform basic eyeglass repairs and adjustments
• Educate patients on eyewear care and handling
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of optical displays and workspace
• Stay updated on product offerings, insurance coverage, and industry trends
• Manage the frames in the optical
• Bill VSP, Eyemed, spectera and Davis vision claims
• Edging lenses on Santanelli edger

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Licensure preferred
• Previous experience as an Optician or in a retail optical environment
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Attention to detail and manual dexterity for adjustments and repairs
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency with optical software and point-of-sale systems is a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $28.00 per hour
