Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following physician orders, including IV infusions and other specialized treatments like botulinum toxin or dermal fillers.
- Assist with complex procedures such as catheterization, wound suturing, spinal taps, and airway management to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Provide specialized care for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and those requiring memory or hospice care.
- Manage acute pain cases and participate in emergency response activities within Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma settings.
- Conduct patient education on health coaching topics such as nutrition, medication management, discharge planning, and chronic disease management.
- Document all patient interactions meticulously in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards like ICD-9/10 coding and CPT coding.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate case management plans for inpatient, outpatient, or home & community care settings.
Skills
- Proven experience working in critical care environments such as ICU or emergency medicine units within hospitals or trauma centers.
- Skilled in using EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical records management.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, diagnostic evaluation techniques including sonography and laboratory testing.
- Expertise in IV insertion/infusion therapy, phlebotomy, venipuncture, sterile processing techniques, and aseptic procedures.
- Familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding standards for accurate medical documentation; experience with CPT coding is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and assessments for patients across various age groups including neonates to seniors.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs such as those requiring assisted living or memory care services.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and infection prevention practices in diverse healthcare settings.
- Capable of managing complex cases involving acute pain management, ventilator support, gastric lavage, or dialysis procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively triage patient needs in urgent care or outpatient environments; experience in behavioral health is advantageous. Pay: $36.41 - $43.84 per hour
