Part-Time Registered Nurse
Summary
The Part-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Affirmative Care Solutions plays a vital role in delivering compassionate, patient-centered clinical care within our women's health clinic. Working alongside our providers and support staff, the LPN ensures safe, high-quality care for patients across a range of gynecological, reproductive, and preventive health services. The ideal candidate is a skilled clinician who leads with empathy, upholds patient dignity and autonomy, and thrives in a trauma-informed, equity-centered care environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform patient intake including vital signs, health history review, and chief complaint documentation
· Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; assist providers as needed during clinical visits
· Administer medications, injections, and treatments per provider orders and within scope of practice
· Conduct patient education on relevant health topics including contraception, STI prevention, reproductive health, and preventive care
· Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing (e.g., pregnancy tests, urinalysis)
· Accurately document clinical encounters and nursing assessments in the electronic health record (EHR)
· Triage patient phone calls and messages; provide clinical guidance within scope of practice
· Coordinate referrals, lab results, and follow-up care in collaboration with providers and care team
· Ensure exam rooms are properly stocked, cleaned, and prepared between patient visits
· Communicate effectively with providers and clinical staff to support smooth patient flow
· Adhere to all HIPAA, OSHA, and ACS policies related to patient privacy, safety, and clinic security
· Follow infection control protocols and standard precautions at all times
· Participate in required staff trainings, quality improvement initiatives, and team meetings
· Complete other duties as assigned to support clinic operations and patient care
Special Skills and Abilities
· Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced ambulatory care setting
· Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients navigating sensitive or complex health decisions
· Proficiency in EHR systems and general clinical documentation; experience with [e.g., Epic, Athena, eClinicalWorks] a plus
· Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and non-judgmental patient care
· Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a dynamic clinic environment
· Professionalism and composure when supporting patients experiencing stress, emotional difficulty, or ambivalence
· Strong commitment to patient confidentiality, privacy, and clinic security protocols
Experience
· Active, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Illinois required
· Current BLS/CPR certification required (ACLS preferred)
· Minimum 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience; ambulatory, OB/GYN, or women's health experience strongly preferred
· Knowledge of reproductive health, family planning, or gynecological care desirable
· Experience working with diverse patient populations, including individuals navigating reproductive healthcare decisions
· Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles preferred
· Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages) a plus
Physical Requirements
· Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks required in a clinical setting
· Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs as needed
· Must be able to wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) throughout shifts
Work Location & Schedule
On-site at Affirmative Care Solutions, 600 N Logan Ave, Danville, IL 61832.
Part-time hours; schedules may include weekdays, some Saturdays, and occasional extended hours to meet patient care needs.
Security & Confidentiality
All ACS staff must adhere to the highest standards of patient confidentiality and clinic security protocols. This includes compliance with HIPAA, keycard access procedures, and vigilance in identifying and responding to potential safety concerns.

This role also involves standard occupational exposures found in clinical and healthcare settings, including contact with bodily fluids, contaminated materials, and the use of disinfectants and medical equipment.
