1. Greets patients in waiting area, escorts them throughout their entire clinic experience.
2. Obtains brief history and performs screening questions in accordance to clinic policy and documents in the E.H.R.
3. Functions as a scribe during the clinician encounter and prepares notes for medical provider for review and signature.
4. Takes orders from clinician on obtaining diagnostic testing to include labs, imaging, and other necessary tests.
5. Carries out orders from licensed medical personnel.
6. Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to clinic procedures such as recording temperatures, pulse rate, blood pressure and responses to standardized medical history questions.
7. Reports all observed patient concerns and changes in condition to a licensed staff member.
8. Performs Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Waved Lab tests such as urine dip stick, HGB, HCT, finger stick, glucose, hemoccult, HCG and reports results to the appropriate personnel.
9. Performs patient phlebotomies in accordance with clinic procedures and clinician orders after specialized training.
10. Performs specialty skills such as suture removal, straight catheterization and injections (IM, Subq and intra-dermal).
11. Monitors and cleans assigned patient examination rooms, lab areas, procedure rooms and other unit areas and unit equipment to include reporting outdated supplies, stock levels and restock set levels of items and necessary equipment repairs.
12. Answers telephones, forwards telephone messages and under the direction of licensed staff schedules appointments, procedures and diagnostic tests.
13. Assists in routine clerical functions such as filing of medical information in patient’s records, locating and compiling department charts, obtaining medical records from other providers and entering charges for billing purposes.
14. Attends and completes mandatory in-services including infection control, safety, CPR, equipment usage and procedures according to hospital and department policies.
15. Applies leads and monitors for diagnostic procedures such as EKG and ultrasound scan under the supervision of licensed personnel.
16. Assists family education by providing educational material and general health information to patients and family members.
17. Prints patient wellness handouts at the end of each patient experience.
18. Assists with transportation of patients to ancillary departments or inpatient units as directed by licensed staff.
19. Required: Employees are expected to accompany clinical providers on quarterly village trips to ensure adequate support and continuity of care.
20. Required: Employees must provide clinical support in other ancillary departments as needed, including but not limited to pediatrics, women’s health, internal medicine, surgery, orthopedics, etc.
21. Required: Employees are responsible for responding promptly to rapid responses and/or code blue alerts alongside the on-call provider when assigned, ensuring timely and effective patient care.
