Licensed Practical Nurse - Staff Nurse

Duties

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health histories to inform personalized care plans.
  • Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and treatments such as tube feedings and catheterizations with precision and adherence to protocols.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with diagnostic evaluations, specimen collection/processing, and medical imaging procedures while maintaining strict infection control standards.
  • Provide specialized care for patients with complex needs such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, traumatic injuries in Level I trauma centers, or critical illnesses requiring ICU experience.
  • Support discharge planning and coordinate case management efforts to ensure seamless transitions between care settings.
  • Engage in patient education on medication administration, pain management strategies, health coaching, and post-acute care instructions.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and uphold the highest standards of medical documentation and confidentiality.

Experience

  • Proven experience in diverse clinical environments including hospital medicine, emergency rooms (ER), intensive care units (ICU), or medical-surgical units.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation.
  • Critical care experience in Level II or Level I trauma centers preferred; familiarity with trauma protocols and acute pain management highly valued.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges; knowledge of Alzheimer’s care and memory support is advantageous.
  • Skilled in performing advanced procedures such as IV insertions, venipuncture (phlebotomy), sterile techniques for suture placement or spinal taps.
  • Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for procedures, and familiarity with medical terminology enhances clinical effectiveness.
  • Prior roles involving hospice care, home & community care experiences or pediatric/neonatal ventilator management are beneficial.
  • Strong physiology knowledge coupled with excellent patient assessment skills ensures high-quality patient-centered care across all age groups including infants to geriatrics.
