Licensed Professional Counselor/Licensed Associate Professional Counselor

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) to join our behavioral health services team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical counseling, with expertise in psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and behavioral health modalities. This role involves providing comprehensive mental health assessments, individual and group therapy, and supporting clients across diverse populations, including children, adolescents, and adults. The counselor will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care, utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and applied behavior analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to determine client needs.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating various therapeutic techniques, including psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, grief counseling, and behavioral therapy.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions tailored to client-specific issues such as trauma, PTSD, addiction, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and gender issues counseling.
  • Implement crisis management strategies to ensure client safety during acute episodes or emergencies while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations for medical documentation and patient confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals to coordinate care plans involving psychopharmacology and other medical interventions when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient progress using appropriate ICD coding and CPT coding for billing purposes.
  • Engage in clinical research activities or data collection efforts to support program development or quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development through training in telehealth experience, social work practices, special education considerations, and inpatient/outpatient care settings.

Experience

  • Proven experience providing mental health counseling within outpatient clinics or inpatient settings with a focus on behavioral health or clinical research.
  • Demonstrated expertise in working with children, adolescents, individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder, geriatrics, or special education populations.
  • Familiarity with crisis intervention protocols and crisis management techniques for diverse client populations.
  • Experience utilizing evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), or other modalities listed above.
  • Knowledge of ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate diagnosis documentation; experience with CPT coding is preferred.
  • Strong background in social work principles combined with medical terminology understanding related to behavioral health care.
  • Prior telehealth experience is desirable for providing remote counseling services effectively while maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards. Pay: $58,812.57 - $90,828.03 per year
