Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluations and mental health screenings, to identify individual needs and develop tailored care plans.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy techniques.
  • Manage crisis intervention situations promptly and effectively, ensuring safety and stabilization for clients experiencing acute distress or emergencies.
  • Document all clinical interactions accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
  • Coordinate with healthcare teams to facilitate case management, discharge planning, and post-acute care strategies for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those receiving hospice or dementia care.
  • Engage in clinical research activities related to behavioral health interventions or patient outcomes to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in intake procedures, medical documentation, and medical records management while maintaining familiarity with medical terminology and CPT coding requirements for billing purposes.

Skills

  • Proven experience in child & family counseling, hospice care, addiction counseling, or working with individuals with disabilities such as autism or dementia.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health counseling modalities including psychotherapy, crisis management, and behavioral health strategies like applied behavior analysis (ABA) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
  • Familiarity with nursing homes, assisted living facilities, outpatient clinics, or home & community care settings.
  • Skilled in data collection for clinical research projects or quality improvement initiatives; experience working with EMR systems is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for conducting intake interviews, group therapy sessions, and working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards necessary for maintaining confidentiality and compliance in healthcare settings. Pay: $37.28 - $44.90 per hour
