The Therapist provides clinical oversight and program management for treatment services involving individuals mandated or referred for sexual offense-specific treatment in compliance with the California Sex Offender Management Board (CASOMB) standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide regular individual and group clinical supervision to treatment providers, interns, and trainees per CASOMB regulations.
- Review and co-sign client treatment plans, progress notes, risk assessments, and discharge summaries.
- Ensure fidelity to approved treatment curricula, risk/needs assessments, and dynamic risk management models.
- Monitor adherence to CASOMB–approved treatment provider standards, including documentation and case management requirements.
- Offer clinical guidance regarding complex cases, high-risk behaviors, and ethical dilemmas.
Program Management and Compliance
- Ensure the program operates in full compliance with CASOMB, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), and local probation/parole contracts.
- Oversee the implementation of treatment standards, policies, and procedures consistent with CASOMB Guidelines and Title 9/Title 22 requirements.
- Collaborate with CDCR, Probation, Parole, and community partners to support coordinated case management.
- Participate in audits, case reviews, and program evaluations as required by CASOMB and contracting agencies.
- Assist in staff credentialing, training, and continuing education compliance per CASOMB tier requirements.
Clinical Practice and Leadership
- Maintain a limited caseload of clients for direct treatment and demonstration purposes.
- Provide consultation and crisis support to staff managing high-risk or destabilized clients.
- Support trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive treatment practices.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to ongoing program development.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for professionalism, ethical conduct, and adherence to best practice standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensure: Active California license as LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or Psychologist (Ph.D./Psy.D) in good standing.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of post-licensure clinical experience, including at least 2 years working with sexual offenders or related forensic populations.
- CASOMB Status: Must be a CASOMB-certified Treatment Provider and Clinical Supervisor (or eligible and approved for such designation prior to hire).
- Knowledge of:
- CASOMB standards and California Penal Code §§ 290–290.024.
- Risk-Need-Responsivity (RNR) model, Good Lives Model (GLM), and evidence-based sexual offense treatment modalities.
- California reporting laws, HIPAA, and confidentiality requirements under federal and state law.
- Skills: Strong leadership, documentation review, case conceptualization, and communication abilities.
- Technology: Competency with electronic health records (EHR) and secure documentation systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supervising CASOMB-approved treatment providers or interns.
- Familiarity with CDCR and Probation/Parole case management systems.
- Experience facilitating interdisciplinary case conferencing and cross-agency communication.
- Completion of advanced training in trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, or forensic risk assessment tools (e.g., STABLE-2007, ACUTE-2007, Static-99R).
