Duties

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine care needs.
• Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
• Assist with complex procedures such as IV infusion, catheterization, tube feeding, and sterile dressing changes using aseptic techniques.
• Document all patient interactions thoroughly in electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to ensure precise medical records management.
• Support discharge planning and case management efforts by coordinating follow-up care, providing health coaching, and educating patients on disease management strategies such as dementia or Alzheimer's care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital settings—including ICU, emergency room, trauma centers (Level I & II), and surgical units—to deliver acute and emergency care efficiently.
• Conduct specimen collection/processing, phlebotomy, and diagnostic evaluations to assist physicians in treatment planning.
• Manage airway interventions like ventilator support or airway management procedures for critically ill patients in intensive care units or neonatal units.

Skills

• Proven experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal ventilator care, and individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, CPT coding for procedures like suturing or dermal fillers.
• Skilled in using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation and patient tracking.
• Expertise in critical care environments including ICU, emergency medicine (ER), trauma centers (Level I & II), and post-acute care settings such as hospice or home & community care.
• Ability to perform advanced nursing procedures like spinal taps, gastric lavage, dialysis assistance or cardiac catheterization support with precision.
• Familiarity with infection control practices and sterile processing techniques to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
• Excellent patient assessment skills combined with the ability to work effectively with patients experiencing acute pain or complex medical conditions requiring pain management strategies.
