LIEN NEGOTIATOR - PERSONAL INJURY

Hillstone Law is looking for an experienced LIEN NEGOTIATORto add to our team. This role is responsible for managing all prior attorney lien negotiations, coordinating Substitutions of Attorney (Sub-Ins and Sub-Outs), and preparing detailed lien breakdowns to support settlement disbursements. This role serves as the primary liaison between prior counsel, current counsel, and internal departments to ensure timely resolution of attorney liens and accurate allocation of settlement proceeds. The position requires strong negotiation skills, lien analysis experience, and a comprehensive understanding of pre-litigation case workflows within a personal injury environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prior attorney lien negotiations
  • Coordinate all Substitution of Attorney filings and transitions
  • Process sub outs and facilitate sub in onboarding when cases are assumed from prior firms
  • Lien Breakdowns: calculate prior attorney fees, advanced costs, and negotiated reductions
  • Reconcile lien balances against settlement proceeds
  • Ensure receipt of complete client files, medical records, and case documentation
  • Flag high-exposure liens or disputes requiring attorney escalation
  • Track status of pending substitutions and follow up through completion

Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience in personal injury lien negotiations
  • Direct experience negotiating prior attorney liens required
  • Familiarity with Substitution of Attorney procedures
  • Understanding of contingency fee structures and cost reimbursement
  • Experience drafting lien breakdowns and settlement allocations
  • Proficiency in case management systems (e.g., Filevine or similar)

  • Negotiation and dispute resolution

  • Attention to detail in settlement accounting
  • Inter-firm communication and professionalism
  • High-volume settlement pipeline exposure
  • Experience working with disbursement or lien negotiations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $40.00 per hour
