Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Life Safety Architect/Engineer to design, review, and implement building life safety systems in compliance with local and international codes. The role involves coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure that fire protection, emergency egress, and other safety systems are effectively integrated into building projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and review life safety systems, including fire protection, smoke control, emergency lighting, fire alarms, and evacuation systems.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, IBC, IFC, Qatar Civil Defense (QCD), and other applicable codes and standards.
- Conduct life safety code analysis for new and existing facilities.
- Prepare and review life safety drawings, reports, and specifications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety requirements are incorporated into architectural and engineering designs.
- Perform site inspections to verify proper installation of life safety systems.
- Liaise with local authorities and approval bodies to obtain permits and certifications.
- Provide technical guidance to project teams on fire safety strategies and evacuation planning.
- Review and approve material submittals related to life safety systems.
- Conduct risk assessments and recommend corrective measures to mitigate hazards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in life safety design and code compliance.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA, IBC, IFC, QCD regulations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM for life safety design.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to review complex designs and provide clear feedback.
- Certification in CFPS (Certified Fire Protection Specialist) or equivalent is a plus.
