Lift Rope Replacement Technician / Elevator Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

Responsible for the safe cutting, removal, installation, and tensioning of elevator wire ropes during maintenance, repair, or modernization activities. Ensures all work complies with safety regulations, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect elevator wire ropes for wear, corrosion, damage, and elongation.
• Safely isolate and lock out elevator equipment before work begins.
• Cut and remove old lift ropes using approved tools and methods.
• Install new wire ropes according to manufacturer specifications.
• Adjust rope tension and alignment to ensure smooth elevator operation.
• Assist with sheave, pulley, and traction system inspections.
• Perform testing and commissioning after rope replacement.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and service records.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and use required PPE.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other maintenance personnel.

Requirements

• Experience in elevator/lift maintenance or mechanical maintenance.
• Knowledge of elevator traction systems and wire rope handling.
• Ability to use rope-cutting, tensioning, and measuring tools.
• Understanding of electrical and mechanical safety procedures.
• Physical ability to work in lift shafts and machine rooms.
• Relevant technical certification or trade qualification preferred.

Working Conditions
