Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Road or Landfill Supervisor, the Light Equipment Operator II hauls material to the job site for repair and construction of roads within Butler County. In addition to safely and efficiently operating vehicles, the Light Equipment Operator II performs routine manual work in the operation of light and heavy equipment for loading and transporting materials. A limited amount of bridge maintenance work is required.

Certificate, License: Valid commercial driver's license. Subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Hazwhopper training if working at Landfill regularly.
Required Education and/or Experience: Six months to twelve months related experience, High School Diploma or G.E.D. and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well after six months in the position. Road and bridge maintenance experience.
Preferred Education and/or Experience: One year related experience, High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Problem Solving: Limited problem solving exists in this position.
Decision Making: Limited decision making exists in this position.
Accountability: Employee is not responsible for budgetary control of the department and does not participate in the annual department budget process.
Supervision: Supervision is provided and job related decisions are reviewed by the Road Supervisor or Solid Waste Supervisor. Employee does not have supervisory responsibility over subordinate personnel.
Personal Relationships: Occasional contact with other county departments and frequent contact with the general public.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed more than two thirds of the time to conditions such moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The employee may also be exposed to high, precarious places, and vibration. The employee may also be exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This position may be called out 24 hours a day or rotate being on call, including weekends and holidays.
