Lighting Designer/Stage Manager for Dance

Chicago Ballet Center is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to join our team in a dual role as Lighting Designer and Stage Manager for our very informal production of Sweet Suite Nutcracker. This is a short term gig is from November 18 - 23 with between 25 and 30 hours of scheduled time.

Act I - Happy Holidays. Popular songs and music for our younger students.

ACT II - Selections for Nutcracker Act II.

Decently equipped theater at Portage Park Elementary School. Possibility for future engagements in June. Please state your interest in either/both the November and June performances.

Key Responsibilities:

Attend final rehearsals at Chicago Ballet Center studios (4041 N Milwaukee Av) to communicate with teachers/choreographers about lighting needs and costume colors on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 18 and 19, 4 - 7pm.

Load out and install portable dance floor, Thursday afternoon, November 19 form Chicago Ballet Center to Portage Park Elementary School (5330 W Berteau).

Maintain a clean and safe stage environment

Individual class rehearsals in the theater Thursday and Friday, November 20 and 21 , 4 to 7pm. This time can be used to create and program lighting cues.

Dress rehearsal on Saturday, November 23, 10:30 - 3:30. Call the show and run the light board. If appropriate, a second technician can be hired to run the sound board.

2 performances on November 23, noon and 3:00pm. Call the show and run the light board. If appropriate, a second technician can be hired to run the sound board.

Load out immediately following the 3pm performance. Transport and install portable dance floor to its original studio location at Chicago Ballet Center

Theater access for computer time can be arranged as needed.

Job Types: Freelance, Temporary

Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
