Line Cook

Tuggle's Gap Restaurant is seeking highly motivated, attentive and (preferably) experienced Line Cooks who are reliable and prioritize cleanliness, communication, and organization, and good food. Serving a classic diner menu for breakfast and lunch, with plans to expand. Our goal is to provide our guests the best experience possible and become an outstanding landmark on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

• Food Preparation: Use basic knife skills and cooking techniques to prepare food and recipes according to the Chef’s specifications.
• Execution: Cook menu items using techniques and methods like sautéing, grilling, frying, and baking to precise timing and recipe standards.
• Station Management: Maintain a clean, organized, stocked station with necessary supplies and ingredients.
• Sanitation & Safety: Strictly follow state and federal food safety guidelines, maintain a clean, hazard free work space, and wash, rinse, and sanitize equipment before, during, and after shifts.
• Teamwork: Communicate effectively with FOH and BOH staff to ensure smooth, timely service.
• Values: Prioritize cleanliness, communication, and organization.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: A high school diploma and/or experience in hospitality.
• Experience: 1+ years of line cook/food service experience in a fast-paced, professional kitchen preferred.
• Skills: Strong knife skills and foundational knowledge of cooking techniques, developed intrapersonal skills, ability to work in a fast paced environment.
• Certification: Current ServSafe or local Food Handler certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
• Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for extended periods, work in a hot environment, and lift up to 50lbs.
• Availability: Must be able to work flexible hours, including mornings, weekends, and some holidays.
