Position Summary:
Aegis Aerospace is seeking a Linux System Administrator Functional Lead to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. This position involves managing Linux-based systems for the Missile Defense Space Center, overseeing system security compliance, and mentoring a team of administrators. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Red Hat environments, container platforms, and leadership in system administration practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct support to the Missile Defense Space Enterprise Architecture (MDSEA) organization, ensuring the stability and availability of critical IT infrastructure and services.
Manage and mentor a team of Linux System Administrators in performing system installations, sustaining existing physical and virtual machines, and configuring hardware, software, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage in accordance with established standards and project/operational requirements.
Assume ownership of, and delegate as needed, tasks derived from project, sustainment, and break/fix requests, ensuring tasks are updated in tracking software
Administer Linux-based environments, including VMware Tanzu and container repositories/registries.
Oversee and perform the hardening of Linux systems to ensure Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance and that cyber security mitigations are performed in accordance with established policies.
Develop and maintain system administration documentation, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and How-To guides, to facilitate the success of the Linux System Administration team.
Collaborate with cybersecurity, DevSecOps, Solutions Engineers, and application teams to ensure system administration and compliance practices are consistently maintained.
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.
Perform system automation activities utilizing scripting tools and languages.
Collaborate with other leads, engineers, and technical teams to ensure the overall health and stability of the MDSEA enclave.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a US citizen
- Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher
- Must have 10, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience outside of an academic setting (May be reduced with completion of advanced degree)
- Must have 1, or more, years of experience working in a management/ leadership role
- Must have direct experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Identifiable Management (IdM), and Satellite
- Hands-on experience with the administration of virtualization solutions: vSphere and VMWare Aria Operations is required
- Must have experience and thorough understanding of the MDSEA environment
- Must possess a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+CE)
Desired Qualifications:
- Have basic networking knowledge
- Have a strong understanding of Agile Framework
- Have a strong understanding of Systems Engineering Principles
- Have a working knowledge of Configuration Management processes
- Have experience using Remedy
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $130,000 – $150,000 annually. Final compensation is based on experience, education, and directly relevant certifications.
