Linux Systems Administrator

Job Description

  • Duties & Responsibilities:

  • RHEL Server Administration:

    • Deploy, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers in on-prem and cloud environments.

      • Secure, optimize, and troubleshoot Linux systems to ensure uptime and reliability.
      • Manage user access, system permissions, and software updates.
  • Containerization & Kubernetes:

    • Deploy and manage Docker containers for internal services and tools.
    • Maintain and expand Kubernetes (RKE2) clusters for user-deployed applications and enterprise solutions.
    • Implement and optimize container orchestration using Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.
  • Infrastructure as Code & Automation:

    • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and Ansible.
    • Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD.
    • Automate deployments, configuration management, and monitoring setup.
  • Monitoring & Logging:

    • Develop and maintain Grafana dashboards for real-time system monitoring.
    • Implement centralized logging and monitoring using Telegraf, InfluxDB, and Prometheus.
    • Troubleshoot system performance issues using logs and metrics.
  • Cloud & Virtualization:

    • Manage and maintain Linux-based cloud instances across AWS and other cloud platforms.
    • Assist in cloud migrations and optimizing cloud-based services.
    • Support virtualization efforts across a mix of physical and virtual Linux systems.
  • Mission-Critical System Support:

    • Maintain secure FTP servers for mission data access and downloads.
    • Provide support for user-accessible desktop environments via remote desktop solutions.
    • Manage physical Linux servers, including a new Qube rendering farm supervisor server.
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing:

    • Work with leadership and cross-functional teams to scale and improve Linux-based infrastructure.
    • Provide technical mentorship and training to junior administrators or teammates.
    • Contribute to documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Required Skills Test

  • Experience supporting high-availability Kubernetes clusters for GEOINT or enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with GPU-accelerated workloads in a mixed physical/virtual environment.
  • Experience managing enterprise-scale logging and monitoring solutions.
  • Understanding of cloud security best practices and Linux hardening techniques.
  • Prior experience with Qube rendering farms or similar high-performance compute environments.
  • Ability to work independently and drive infrastructure projects forward.

Desired Skills
