Lithium-ion Battery Product Engineer

Role Overview

The Lithium-ion Battery Product Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and enhancement of lithium-ion batteries and battery packs. This role requires strong technical knowledge and the ability to collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to deliver efficient and safe energy storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities1. Product Development

• Design and develop lithium-ion battery cells, modules, and battery pack systems.
• Select suitable cell chemistry (LFP, NMC, LCO, etc.) based on product requirements.
• Participate in prototyping, validation, and performance improvement.

2. Technical Engineering

• Develop battery configuration (Series/Parallel) and electrical schematics.
• Work on thermal management solutions, protection circuits, and safety design.
• Integrate and test Battery Management Systems (BMS).
• Conduct root-cause analysis for performance issues and implement design corrections.

3. Testing & Quality

• Conduct electrical, thermal, and safety tests including capacity, cycle life, IR, and durability checks.
• Ensure product compliance with relevant standards.
• Coordinate with QC teams to maintain product quality during mass production.

4. Documentation & Certification

• Prepare BOM, product specification sheets, technical drawings, and SOPs.
• Support certification processes such as BIS, IEC 62133, UL, UN 38.3, etc.
• Maintain documentation for all lithium battery products.

5. Team Collaboration

• Work closely with production and R&D teams for process and product improvements.
• Provide technical support to sales, service, and customer teams.
• Assist clients with technical queries and custom battery requirements.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering fields.
• Experience in lithium battery design, assembly, or testing is preferred.
• Knowledge of BMS, battery chemistry, safety standards, and testing equipment.
• CAD design and basic circuit design knowledge is an added advantage.

Skills Required

• Strong technical and analytical skills.
• Understanding of energy storage systems and battery industry trends.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.

• Based on experience and industry standards.
