Litigation Associate

Our boutique aviation and products liability litigation defense law firm seeks a litigation associate with 3-5 years of litigation experience to join our team. Our firm strives to maintain a collaborative and fun team environment while creating the best work product for our clients. The right candidate will enjoy being a part of a time and generating ideas through collaboration but will also be capable of self-directing as needed.

As a litigation associate at R&S, you will gain direct hands-on experience with interesting and challenging legal tasks. Duties will include legal research, drafting motions for Oregon and Washington state and federal courts, and preparing discovery responses, privilege logs, and other assignments as needed. Strong legal research skills using Westlaw or LexisNexis are a must, as are strong writing skills. Attention to detail and a working knowledge of litigation pleadings, motion practice, discovery, and court rules are required. Strong analytical thinking skills allowing you to think of solutions outside of the box are a must.

The position includes an expectation of 5 hours of billable work per day, and daily timekeeping is required. The firm operates in a hybrid work environment with all employees in the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and remote work from home on Wednesday and Friday. Working in the office 5 days a week is an option, if the employee wishes.

Benefits are subject to a 60-day waiting period and include a monthly stipend for health insurance, dental, and vision; 401(k) matching; 3 weeks PTO; and merit bonuses.

• Qualifications:
• Licensed to practice and in good standing in Oregon (Washington would be helpful, but not required)
• Litigation experience in Oregon state and/or federal court
• 3-5 years of experience as a litigation associate
• Westlaw or LexisNexis research skills
• Strong legal research and writing skills
• Strong analytical thinking skills
• Must be located in or around the Portland Metro area

Pay: $95,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
