Litigation Associate Attorney

Location: Remote (Virginia-based) with court appearances in Northern Virginia
Employment Type: Full-Time (W-2 preferred; 1099 / Of Counsel considered)

Position Overview

The Litigation Associate Attorney will independently manage a substantial caseload and handle matters from intake through resolution. This role is designed for an experienced litigator who can operate with minimal oversight while maintaining strong client communication and case discipline.

The position is primarily remote, with required court appearances across Northern Virginia.

Essential Duties

  • Manage 30–50 active litigation cases
  • Handle court appearances, hearings, and trial preparation
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal correspondence
  • Conduct legal research (LexisNexis)
  • Communicate directly and proactively with clients
  • Delegate tasks to paralegals and legal assistants
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping and case management records
  • Uphold firm standards of professionalism and client service

Requirements

Required

  • 2–4+ years of litigation experience
  • Family law and/or criminal litigation experience
  • Active Virginia Bar license (in good standing)
  • Courtroom experience
  • Strong legal writing and research skills
  • Experience with timekeeping and case management systems
  • Reliable transportation for court appearances
  • Ability to work independently

Preferred

  • Experience with Clio
  • Estate planning or VA disability exposure
  • Guardian ad litem experience
  • Portable book of business (not required)

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar (active)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $90,000 – $120,000 (based on experience)
