Litigation Associate Attorney - Medical Malpractice and/or General Liability

Federico Schwartz Merolesi & Lyddane LLP is a premier boutique law firm seeking a talented Associate Attorney to join our defense litigation team. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and writing skills, experience managing cases through discovery, and a desire to grow in a fast-paced litigation environment.

Role Description:

• Defend clients in medical malpractice and general liability cases.
• Manage files through all stages of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, and motion practice.
• Draft and argue motions.
• Conduct legal research.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and experts.
• Prepare cases for trial, including expert coordination and pretrial submissions.
• Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and mediations.
• Communicate with clients, experts, and opposing counsel in a professional and effective manner.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license and good standing with the New York State Bar.
• 2–3 years of litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice and/or general liability defense.
• Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
• For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience defending healthcare providers, hospitals, nursing homes or insurers.
• Deposition and motion hearing experience.
• Trial preparation.
