Hailey McNamara, L.L.P., seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to join its litigation team. The attorney will manage complex cases, provide high-quality legal representation, and collaborate with experienced litigators to achieve the best outcomes for clients.

Who You Are

You are an experienced litigation attorney with a minimum of five (5) years practicing insurance defense and a demonstrated record of trial experience. What We Need You to Do

As a Litigation Attorney at Hailey McNamara, you will provide comprehensive defense representation to the firm’s clients. You will leverage your litigation and trial experience, judgment, and advocacy skills to achieve positive results while maintaining compliance with client guidelines and firm standards.


This position involves handling all stages of litigation, from investigation and discovery to motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation. You will represent clients across a range of insurance

defense matters, including general liability, professional liability, and complex tort litigation.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a full caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through resolution.
  • Conducting legal research, analyzing case law, and developing strategic approaches for case defense.
  • Drafting and responding to pleadings, discovery, motions, and memoranda.
  • Conducting and defending depositions of plaintiffs, experts, and corporate representatives.
  • Collaborating with clients, insurers, and co-counsel to ensure timely communication and case updates.
  • Preparing cases for mediation, arbitration, and trial, including exhibits, witness preparation, and trial strategy.
  • Evaluating liability and exposure, and advising clients regarding risk and settlement options.
  • Ensuring all case activity aligns with client billing and reporting requirements.
  • Staying current on changes in Louisiana laws impacting insurance and tort litigation.
  • Maintain excellent professional and organizational standards, including accurate timekeeping, effective delegation to paralegals and support staff, and careful management of caseloads to ensure efficiency, client satisfaction, and firm profitability.
  • Contributing to a positive, collegial firm culture focused on quality, integrity, and efficiency.


Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice in the State of Louisiana and in good standing.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in insurance defense or civil litigation required; environmental and/or asbestos litigation experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated trial experience, including first- or second-chair participation.
  • Strong analytical, research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and professional judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal practice management software.

Salary: From $120,000, commensurate with experience.
