Litigation Paralegal

Position Overview:

The Litigation Paralegal will assist our attorneys throughout all stages of the litigation process, with a specific focus on landlord tenant matters from case inception to trial and appeal. We are looking for a highly meticulous and organized individual with superior communication skills. The ideal candidate will also be enthusiastic about utilizing the latest AI tools to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and ensure accuracy.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist attorneys in the preparation and filing of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and briefs.
  • Conduct legal research and gather relevant case materials using AI tools and traditional methods.
  • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are accurate and up to date.
  • Coordinate and manage the calendars of attorneys, scheduling meetings, depositions, and court appearances.
  • Engage in client communication, providing updates and requesting additional information as needed.
  • · Prepare trial exhibits and assist in pre-trial and trial preparation.
  • · Attend court sessions, as necessary, to provide on-site assistance to attorneys.
  • · Monitor court decisions, industry news, and other resources for potential impact on current and future cases. Demonstrate initiative to suggest improvements to legal processes and practices using AI tools.

Qualifications

Must be able to write and speak effectively and professionally using strong judgment, tact, and discretion to maintain client confidentiality. Strong organizational and follow-up skills are fundamental to ensure success in this role. Ability to organize and maintain records. Efficient in preparation of reports and correspondence. Certified as a notary public (this can occur after employment). Basic knowledge of fundamental subjects in law is preferred.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or equivalent experience.
  • Paralegal certification from an accredited program is ideal.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in litigation support, ideally in business or dental law.
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and processes.
  • Proficiency with legal software and a willingness to learn and use AI tools for legal practice.
  • Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Strong diligence and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Elevated level of confidentiality, reliability, efficiency, and resourcefulness.
  • Demonstrates initiative, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic knowledge of fundamental subjects in law required and courtroom or previous paralegal experience strongly preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with District Courts.
  • Ability to use document management systems. Familiarity with legal case management software to organize case files, manage deadlines, and track billable time. Experience with Clio (or similar legal practice management software).
  • Proficiency in using legal research databases such as LexisNexis to find case law, statutes, and other legal resources.

Work Environment

This role is based in a professional office setting and involves regular use of computers, phones, and standard office equipment. Some local travel (e.g., to the Post Office or courts) is required—reliable transportation is a must and mileage is reimbursed. General hours are Monday–Friday, approximately 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, with flexibility to accommodate deadlines and personal scheduling needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
