Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Litigation Secretary to join our legal team in New York. Duties
- Prepare, organize, and maintain legal documents, pleadings, and case files using document management systems such as iManage and PCLaw.
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other research tools to support litigation strategies across diverse practice areas including family law, estate planning, environmental law, and more.
- Draft legal correspondence, motions, contracts, and other documents with precision and clarity.
- Manage calendar deadlines for court filings, hearings, depositions, and client meetings to ensure timely submissions.
- Review and proofread legal documents for accuracy; transcribe dictations as needed to support attorneys’ workflow.
- Coordinate communication between clients, courts, witnesses, experts, and internal teams with professional phone etiquette and organizational skills.
- Assist with document review, data entry, filing, and maintaining case management systems such as LexisNexis or other legal administrative platforms.
- Support attorneys with project management tasks related to complex litigation cases involving UCC law, tribal law & regulations, securities law, workers' compensation law, patent law, immigration law, landlord-tenant law, personal injury law, family law, environmental law, and more.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of legal research tools including Westlaw and LexisNexis.
- Proven experience with legal case management software such as iManage or PCLaw.
- Strong understanding of various practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, tribal law & regulations, securities law, patent law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, landlord-tenant law & family law.
- Excellent writing skills for drafting pleadings, contracts, correspondence and legal memoranda.
- Exceptional proofreading and transcription abilities ensuring error-free documentation.
- Proficiency in document review processes and document management systems for efficient case handling.
- Effective organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supporting attorneys with administrative tasks such as filing court documents accurately within deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with professional phone etiquette for client interactions.
- Ability to perform thorough legal research on complex issues across multiple jurisdictions or practice areas.
- Project management capabilities to coordinate multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail. Pay: $64,642.82 - $95,000.00 per year
