SeaHarbor Insurance is a Dallas-based provider of nonstandard personal automobile insurance throughout the State of Texas. Founded in 2017, SeaHarbor has experienced significant and extraordinarily successful growth.
Due to continuing growth, we are seeking a Litigation Supervisor to support our Dallas, Texas Claims Office.
Position Summary
The Litigation Supervisor oversees the handling and resolution of litigated auto insurance claims, ensuring cost-effective defense strategies, timely settlements, and compliance with company policies and legal requirements. This role manages a team of litigation adjusters, provides technical guidance, and collaborates with legal counsel to achieve fair and efficient claim outcomes while mitigating legal exposure and controlling indemnity and defense costs.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced claims professional with strong litigation management skills, excellent judgment and a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced and-metrics driven work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise and mentor a team of litigation adjusters handling moderate to high-severity attorney-represented cases.
- Assign, monitor, and review claim files to ensure quality handling, accurate reserves, and appropriate litigation strategies.
- Review and approve recommendations for litigated matters, balancing defense and settlement costs ensuring compliance with company policy obligations.
- Conduct regular file reviews to assess quality, reserve adequacy, and adherence to litigation strategy.
Litigation Management
- Oversee the litigation process for both coverage and defense matters, including litigation counsel selection, pleadings, discovery, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation.
- Evaluate case exposure, liability, and damages to make well-supported settlement recommendations to senior claims management.
- Coordinate with litigation counsel to ensure effective representation and cost control.
- Exercise settlement authority within designated limits.
- Audit and evaluate litigation counsel performance to ensure compliance with legal and ethical obligations as well as company requirements.
- Establish and maintain a litigation counsel file audit program.
- Identify, evaluate and recommend coverage and defense counsel for engagement across Texas as needed.
- Review and approve litigation counsel invoices to ensure compliance with the company’s billing guidelines.
Strategic & Operational Support
- Develop, implement and enforce litigation management best practices and process improvements, including legal counsel billing guidelines.
- Analyze litigation trends to identify risk patterns and propose mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with claims leadership on policy interpretation, coverage opinions, and training initiatives.
- Ensure consistent application of company standards and regulatory compliance.
Technical & Strategic Support
- Provide guidance to adjusters on complex injury evaluations, medical causation, and negotiation tactics.
- Review medical records, expert reports, and legal documentation to assess case value and claim exposure.
- Identify litigation trends and emerging risks, recommending procedural or policy improvements.
- Partner with leadership to develop and refine litigation best practices and training programs.
- Identify litigation trends and emerging risks, recommending process improvements or policy changes as needed.
Performance & Development
- Coach and evaluate team performance through regular feedback and goal setting.
- Facilitate professional development and technical training for litigation adjusters.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning for the claims department.
Qualifications:
- Texas resident Adjuster’s License (required)
- Minimum 5–7 years of auto insurance claims experience, including 3+ years in litigated claims and 1–2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of laws applicable to personal private auto insurance, insurance coverage and defense litigation, and Texas civil litigation rules and procedures.
- Proven ability to manage high-severity and complex claim exposures.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Strong judgment and decision-making ability.
- Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay: From $90,000 and up, based on experience
