The Load Planner optimizes freight transportation by matching loads with available trucks, drivers, and trailers to maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure on-time delivery. They analyze routes, utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS), manage driver schedules, and act as a key liaison between customers and dispatchers to optimize capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Freight Planning: Utilize TMS software to schedule and optimize shipments, ensuring loads meet weight, volume, and safety requirements.
- Asset Management: Coordinate daily, matching available tractors and trailers with customer cargo.
- Driver Coordination: Assign loads to drivers, maintaining communication to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries.
- Customer Service: Liaise with customers to solicit business, provide updates, and resolve service issues.
- Logistics Analysis: Research and troubleshoot operational bottlenecks, such as detention times or route delays, to improve efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in logistics, dispatching, or transportation.
- Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make quick, efficient decisions.
- Skills: Organization, attention to detail, communication, time management, problem-solving, computer proficiency (WMS, Excel, Outlook).
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
