Job Brief

Shea Mortgage is currently looking for a loan closer for their Financial Services Production Department. The right candidate will be responsible for closing all mortgage loans assigned in a timely manner.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Review all pre-closing requirements such as contracts, hazard insurance, flood certifications, and Mortgage Insurance certifications.
  • Inputs required closing data in LOS system.
  • They draw and release closing documents to the Title company.
  • They review pre-audit and closing conditions and clear all closing conditions and then authorize the funding of the loan.
  • They review all completed and signed closing documents.
  • Maintains compliance with Federal and State regulations during the closing and funding of individual loan files.
  • Possesses a firm knowledge of agency and government requirements as well as loan closing and underwriting documentation.
  • Is proficient with reviewing documents for accurate execution and/or discrepancies.
  • Possesses outstanding communication skills which will help in constant interaction with team members on loan status and reconciling conditions necessary to meet closing and funding requirements.
  • Is formidable with managing pipeline to prioritize loans and keep all parties informed.


Experience requirements

The ideal candidate possesses 3 years of experience in mortgage loan closing and 2 years of funding. Conventional, FHA/VA experience is required.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • 3 years previous closing experience
  • Knowledge of government loans
  • Knowledge and ability to use mortgage software
  • Capable of reading appraisals and prelims
  • Knowledge of mortgage terminology
  • Ability to work with people


Language Skills

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables, in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
