Professional Movers.com in Walled Lake is recruiting local CDL-A drivers, both Part-time (Flexible Scheduling Available) and Full-time (40+ hours GURANTEED) to provide local delivery services (Under 150 miles per day) from Walled Lake, MI to Southeast Michigan, Southwest Michigan, Mid-Michigan, Northern Ohio, and Northern Indiana. Our CDL-A Drivers typically completed with their deliveries between 4:000pm-5:30pm and are home every night.

This is a driving position, making deliveries. This is NOT a traditional moving position. We have a very large local freight and delivery division. Job Responsibilities:

CDL-A Freight Driver position reports to our Walled Lake, MI facility and is responsible for driving locally planned routes (Under 250 miles per day). Our CDL-A drivers return home every night to their own bed and drive our late model tractors and pull our van and flatbed trailers. Our CDL-A drivers are responsible for picking-up, transporting, and delivering to locations throughout Michigan, Northern Indiana, and Northern Ohio.

Some of the products our CDL-A Drivers transport and deliver include: medical devices, household goods, construction materials, systems furniture, office furniture, IT & electronic equipment. Sometimes the goods will be loaded and unloaded by our customers using high-los and sometimes our CDL-A Drivers will assist in the loading and unloading of the trucks if the products we are transporting are not palletized.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

• Must Be 21 Years or Older
• CDL-A required
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a clean driving record required
• Must pass the required drug test
• Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMC) regulations
• Must Pass DOT Physical and DOT Road Test
• Operate trucks requiring a CDL license including tractor-trailer combination, van trailers, flatbed trailers, and litigate trailers
• Perform basic functions like driving forwards, driving backwards, maneuvering in tight spaces, etc.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of equipment and vehicles
• Hook/unhook trailers and work landing gear
• Maintain accurate daily logs, verify and complete required documentation and obtain verification signatures
• Maintain and submit daily timesheet with accurate records of date, in/out times, and locations
• Knowledge of securing freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, including but not limited to: pallets, ratchet straps, hook straps, chins, binders, load bars, and rope
• Collect cash or checks for freight charges, as required, and maintain required documentation
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures
• Proven ability to follow Dispatch, Team Leader, and Moving Consultant directions and instructions precisely
• Communicate with Dispatch (e.g. delays, arrivals, equipment problems)
• Secure and transport freight shipments in a safe and responsible manner

Helpful Experience:

• Ability to drive manual transmission helpful
• Warehouse or dock experience helpful
• Possess two plus years’ experience driving tractor trailers in all four seasons helpful
• Ability to operate a GPS unit helpful
• Excellent customer service and communication skills helpful
• Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to: forklift, pallet jack and hand truck, four wheelers, panel carts
• Demonstrated ability to be completely forthright about mistakes and oversights
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary and document with pictures
• Knowledge of perform chaining of loads and tarping of flatbed loads.
• Assist in cleaning and organizing warehouse and trucks when not assigned on driving duty
• Work well with others and communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs and solicit additional business
• Willingness to perform job duties outside of normal scope to assist Skilled Mover, Moving Apprentice, or Installer when operationally necessary
