Under the guidance of the Local History Librarian, the Local History Intern provides essential support in the Local History room. This role involves assisting with locating materials, using technology resources, supporting staff with ongoing projects, and contributing to program planning and implementation during the summer. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has a strong interest in local history, and is eager to gain hands-on experience in archival work and public programming within a library setting.
Assist patrons in locating historical materials and resources.
Use technology and databases within the Local History room.
Use available tutorials, manuals, and other materials to increase knowledge of software programs and Internet resources skills
Support staff with local history projects, including research and documentation.
Participate in the planning and facilitation of local history programs and events.
Answer telephone calls in a courteous and helpful manner.
Track and report specified statistics.
