Job Title
Local SEO & SEMrush Specialist (Independent Contractor)
Company
Vizible Digital – Dana Point / Orange County, CA
About Us
Vizible Digital is a Southern California digital marketing agency focused on helping local service businesses win in search through hands-on SEO, Google Business Profile optimization, and high-converting websites.
Role Overview
We’re looking for an experienced SEO specialist who lives inside SEMrush and knows how to take a local business from “invisible” to “everywhere” in search. You’ll start with a small set of clients to prove your process, then scale with us to 50–100+ accounts by year’s end if it’s a mutual fit.
This is a 1099 independent contractor role paid per client, with the potential to transition into a base + performance structure if you consistently exceed expectations.
Key ResponsibilitiesOnboarding & Strategy
- Run full SEMrush site audits for new clients and prioritize technical, on-page, and content fixes.
- Gather and configure access: Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, Google Business Profile (GBP), and any relevant ad accounts.
- Build an initial SEO roadmap (90-day plan) covering site health, local SEO, content, and conversion rate optimization.
Website / On‑Page SEO
- Perform keyword research and mapping (SEMrush + Search Console) and define target keywords by page and by intent.
- Optimize core pages (titles, meta, H1/H2 structure, internal linking, schema where relevant).
- Use tools like PageSpeed Insights to identify and coordinate fixes that move sites toward a 90+ speed score where possible.
- Ensure all new content is indexable, well-structured, and avoids obvious AI overuse.
Local SEO & Google Business Profile
- Fully optimize and build out Google Business Profiles: categories, descriptions, services, photos, products, Q&A, and UTM‑tagged links.
- Implement and refine a review and reputation strategy (requests, responses, templates).
- Use BrightLocal (or similar) for local rank tracking, citations, and NAP cleanup.
- Create and schedule regular GBP posts (at least monthly) that align with the keyword and offer strategy.
Citations, Directories, & Off‑Page
- Audit existing citations and directory listings; correct NAP, duplicates, and inconsistencies.
- Build new, relevant local and niche citations using BrightLocal or equivalent tools.
- Coordinate with content resources for guest posts / local PR when appropriate.
Competitor Analysis & Content Strategy
- Use SEMrush to analyze top local competitors, their ranking pages, and backlink profiles.
- Build keyword/content plans for blogs, service pages, and FAQs to close topical gaps.
- Provide briefs or outlines that include H1/H2 structure, keyword targets, and internal links.
Ongoing Monthly Work
- Maintain a consistent monthly cadence per client (most clients: 1–2 touchpoints per month).
- Tasks may include: new content creation/briefs, on‑page refinement, local “drip” campaigns, review management, map pack optimization, and consultative strategy calls.
- Record short video updates or maintain clear spreadsheets summarizing what was done, what’s next, and key results.
- Continually test, measure, and adjust based on rankings, traffic, leads, and conversion data.
Reporting & Communication
- Build simple, client‑friendly reporting using GA, Search Console, SEMrush, and BrightLocal.
- Track core KPIs: organic traffic, keyword rankings, GMB/GBP insights, calls/forms, and map pack visibility.
- Be proactive: highlight what’s working, what’s not, and the next steps—without needing to be micromanaged.
Tools You Should Be Comfortable With
- SEMrush (site audits, position tracking, keyword research, competitor analysis).
- Google Analytics (GA4), Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager.
- Google Business Profile dashboard and insights.
- BrightLocal or similar tools for citations and local rank tracking.
- Speed and technical tools such as PageSpeed Insights; basic understanding of site health and performance.
- AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) as assistants for ideation, not crutches for final copy.
Compensation
- Independent contractor (1099).
- Flat: $500 per active client per month to start, depending on scope and complexity (discussed during interview).
- Initial ramp: start with a few clients to demonstrate process, communication, and results.
- Growth path: opportunity to scale to 50–100 clients as you prove capacity and performance.
- Future upside: option for a base + performance/override structure if you consistently exceed expectations and help grow the book of business.
- Bringing an existing book of business is a strong plus and will be compensated accordingly relative to revenue generated.
