Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled
Locomotive Safety Engineer
to support the development and implementation of safety strategies for locomotive systems. This role involves leading safety planning, conducting hazard and risk analyses, developing safety concepts, and preparing comprehensive safety cases in compliance with relevant standards and regulations EN 50126/8/9, EN61709, EN61025 and EN12100
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and support
system safety planning
activities for locomotive projects.

Develop and maintain
safety concepts
and
safety requirements
throughout the system lifecycle.

Conduct
hazard identification (HAZID)
,
risk assessments
, and
failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA/FMECA)
.

Perform
safety analyses
such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Event Tree Analysis (ETA), and Common Cause Analysis (CCA).

Prepare and maintain
safety cases
and associated documentation to demonstrate compliance with applicable safety standards.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, systems, validation, and operations to ensure safety requirements are met.

Support
audits and assessments
by regulatory bodies and certification authorities.

Ensure traceability of safety requirements and verification/validation evidence.

Stay updated with evolving safety standards and best practices in the rail industry.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in
Electrical, Systems Engineering
, or a related field.

Proven experience (typically 3–7 years) in
railway safety engineering
, preferably in locomotive or rolling stock projects.

Strong knowledge of
railway safety standards
(e.g., EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129).

Experience with
safety analysis tools
(e.g., Medini Analyze, FaultTree+, RAM Commander).

Familiarity with
systems engineering principles
and
V-model development
.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills:
-
Chartered Engineer or working towards professional certification.
-
Experience with
RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety)
processes.

Knowledge of
software safety
and
cybersecurity
in railway systems.

Experience in
interfacing with certification bodies
and
regulatory authorities
