POSITION SUMMARY:
Timber Products Company is looking for someone with strong bookkeeping or accounts receivable/payable skills and attention to detail to fill the position of Log Accountant. Responsible for tracking log inventory for the Yreka veneer mill which includes log inventory (scaling), recording accounts payable/receivable, and assisting with monthly financial closes.
Incumbent may work from the company's Medford or Yreka office, but must be willing to travel to Yreka as needed.
This position is not remote or hybrid. Incumbent must be able to work full-time on site.
MAJOR TASKS:
- Tracks log inventory levels, verifies log scaling data, and sets up and maintains data on logging activities.
- Reviews invoices. Researches and resolves discrepancies.
- Compiles log inventory and production reports.
- Performs monthly inventory reconciliations.
- Assists in person with month-end log inventory, which may fall on a weekend or holiday. Responsible for posting inventory results and running reports.
- Assists in resolving ERP and/or system issues involving veneer transfers.
- Files monthly and quarterly Sales & Use and Harvest Taxes.
- Assists with administrative support tasks as assigned.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Associate’s degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of two years of bookkeeping or accounts payable/receivable experience, preferably within a manufacturing, forestry, or wood products environment, or a combination of relevant education and equivalent work experience.
- Willingness and ability to support on-site inventory activities, including occasional weekend or holiday work as required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas, data analysis, and reporting) and Microsoft Word; ability to quickly learn and navigate various accounting and inventory management systems.
- Experience in accounting or ERP software preferred.
- Working knowledge of inventory processes, including tracking, reconciliation, and variance analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across departments.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines, particularly during month-end close.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively in a team-oriented environment.
